CESAR CLAVIJO

CESAR’S STORY

Cesar Clavijo was born on Long Island, New York, and grew up in Miami, Florida.

His interest in martial arts and healing began at an early age, but finances kept those explorations out of reach. Without access to formal training, Cesar learned what he could from books and movies.

When he joined the United States Marine Corps, it was partly to be able to pursue his martial arts aspirations.

Cesar served for eleven years, during which he earned a Black Belt in Marine Corps Martial Arts and was introduced to martial arts of Chinese, Russian, and Brazilian origin. This time also marked the beginning of his journey as a holistic health professional.

Cesar began his Jiu Jitsu training in 2004 and joined his first academy in 2005, earning a Blue Belt under Jerry Moreno. Cesar left the academy and was on his own for many years before applying to join the Roy Dean Affiliates in 2011.

Over the years, Cesar has combined what’s he’s learned about body/mind development and martial arts to promote a style of Jiu-Jitsu that:

  1. Enhances longevity and athleticism, helping students to enjoy their practice for a lifetime.

  2. Translates the lessons learned on the mat into applied life lessons off the mat.

That winter, I made my first trip to Bend, Oregon, and have been with RDA ever since.
